On the 7th of February 2025, the Chinese New Year celebration at Inspiros International School kicked off with vibrant performances and meaningful cultural activities. Students enthusiastically took part in crafting beautiful artwork to decorate the school’s wishing tree, a symbol of hope and good fortune for the year ahead.
Adding a fun and educational twist to the event, the Cultural Club presented humorous skits that highlighted some lesser-known cultural taboos and customs observed during the festive season. For example, one performance playfully explored the tradition of avoiding house cleaning during Chinese New Year, as it is believed to symbolically sweep away prosperity.
The celebration featured an exciting lineup of performances that showcased the richness of Chinese culture. The Dance Club delivered an upbeat routine to a contemporary Chinese pop song, while the Year 8 students charmed the audience with a traditional Chinese song. The Year 11 students kept the energy high with a dynamic dance to “Yes Sir,” and the festivities continued with a modern pop dance performance by teachers Ms. Ayunie and Taarani.
The celebration reached its comedic peak with a well-received stand-up routine by Charmaine and Kim Hock, who humorously touched on familiar Chinese New Year experiences—from festive feasting to lively family interactions.
The event concluded on a joyful note with a spirited dance by the teachers, dressed in traditional attire. Their performance captured the essence of Chinese New Year—togetherness, joy, and cultural appreciation—leaving the audience with smiles and lasting memories.
