SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Our Secondary school is designed for children between the ages of 12 and 17 and is based on the British National Secondary Curriculum. Students undergo the curriculum in the view of sitting for their Cambridge IGCSE examinations at Year 11. Obtaining the Cambridge IGCSE qualifications primes students for future academic success as they are often prerequisites for entry into A-level programmes or tertiary education.

Our curriculum prepares students well for the IGCSE exams as well as equips them with the working ethos, knowledge and skills needed to excel in pre-tertiary programmes like the A-levels, International Baccalaureate and the South Australian Matriculation amongst others.

The curriculum is organised into 2 key stages: Key Stage 3 and 4, spread over Years 7 to 11. The curriculum is a continuation of the primary curriculum and builds on the knowledge and concepts established in the previous key stages.

At Inspiros, we promote independent critical thinking and embrace creativity. Our teaching and learning is enquiry based with an emphasis on problem solving and aims to focus on building up students’ abilities as active and inquisitive learners. We strive to create a culture where curiosity is nurtured and student success is driven by a sense of genuine engagement with learning. Work takes place both individually and in groups where we encourage students to voice their own ideas with confidence. Class sizes are generally small which allows for greater personal attention to each student’s learning needs.

A comprehensive range of co-curricular activities form an integral part of a well-rounded curriculum that aims to help students learn essential skills, discover a range of interests and develop the confidence to pursue new challenges. It is also important that our students develop a sense of humility through exposure to a diversity of experiential learning leading them to want to make a difference to the community around them.

Key Stage and Year Group Placements

Year group placements upon admissions are determined from the results of placement test assessments and interviews. We carry out progress assessments at the end of each term culminating in parents getting a progress report for their child and feedback from teachers through Parent Teacher Conferences. We practise the policy of allowing students to jump year levels based on their academic results at the end of year assessments and their maturity levels.
